“Pertamina, through its subsidiary PT Kilang Pertamina Internasional (KPI), is still collaborating with Rosneft to execute the Tuban GRR project,” said Hermansyah from Pertamina in a statement on Friday, October 18.

The Tuban refinery is a joint venture between Pertamina and Rosneft. The two companies signed a contract for the refinery design with the selected contractor in October 2019. KPI had initially targeted the FID to be concluded in the first quarter of 2025, but it now aims to complete it by the fourth quarter of 2024.

With the project’s timeline now in flux, the government is closely monitoring the situation to ensure timely progress. Pertamina remains committed to the project and is actively evaluating its options to ensure its completion.

The Tuban refinery remains a key part of Indonesia’s energy infrastructure plans, and the government is determined to move forward with the project, even if that means finding new investment partners. (Uki Ruknuddin)
