JAKARTA, RAKYAT NEWS – Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto has arrived in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, to attend the upcoming G20 Summit, where discussions on global poverty reduction, hunger alleviation, and environmentally friendly energy transitions will take center stage. The summit will take place amid global calls for a fairer world and a more sustainable planet, with the overarching theme of “Building a Just World and a Sustainable Planet.”

Prabowo’s visit to Brazil is part of a broader diplomatic agenda, which includes bilateral meetings with leaders from various countries. These discussions are expected to focus on strengthening international cooperation in addressing critical global challenges, such as economic inequality and environmental degradation.

His participation highlights Indonesia’s growing role in global diplomacy, particularly in addressing sustainability issues that affect all nations.

The Indonesian leader arrived at Galeão Air Base in Rio de Janeiro on the evening of Saturday, November 16, 2024, at 11:25 p.m. local time. He was welcomed by a host of dignitaries, including Colonel Aviador Fabio Ferreira Silva, the commander of the airbase, as well as George Monteiro Prata, Brazil’s Ambassador to Indonesia. Also present to greet the president were Edi Yusup, Indonesia’s Ambassador to Brazil, and Colonel Inf. Rizal Ashwam Amanda, the Defense Attaché at the Indonesian Embassy in Brasília.

In a formal greeting ceremony, Prabowo, dressed in a black suit and traditional cap, disembarked from the presidential aircraft, saluting the welcoming officials.

He was escorted by an honor guard to his transport, before heading to his hotel for the duration of his stay in Brazil. His visit to Brazil is expected to involve a series of high-level meetings and discussions that will shape Indonesia’s foreign policy in the coming years.
