JAKARTA, RAKYAT NEWS— Indonesia’s Minister of Agriculture, Andi Amran Sulaiman, has invited Vietnamese entrepreneurs to invest in dairy cattle farming in Indonesia.

During his working visit to Vietnam, Amran met with the Vietnamese Deputy Minister of Agriculture and several business leaders in Hanoi to discuss the development of the livestock industry and national milk production.

The Indonesian government is currently striving to increase the production and productivity of cattle to support the next administration’s program of providing nutritious lunches and free milk for school children,” Amran said in a statement in Jakarta on Friday.

Amran revealed that Indonesia and Vietnam signed an MoU on agricultural cooperation on May 19, 2024. One of the main focuses of this cooperation is to promote investment and trade in the agricultural sector between the two countries.

“We are working intensively to boost domestic beef and milk production by developing cattle breeding industries and enhancing the capacity of farmers,” he added.

The Vietnamese Deputy Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development, Phung Dec Tien, welcomed Amran’s visit and appreciated the Indonesian government’s significant attention to the agricultural sector.

“Milk is excellent for children’s nutrition, contributing positively to their physical development,”** said Phung Dec.

One of the entrepreneurs Amran met with, TH Group Founder and Chairwoman Madam Thai Huong, expressed her interest in investing in Indonesia, particularly in dairy cattle farming and the milk industry.

“We will visit Indonesia soon and bring our team to survey potential locations,” she stated.

Indonesia aims to become a global food supplier by 2033, and increasing food production is crucial to achieving this goal.

“We are working hard to reduce the need for imports, which increased due to the El Nino phenomenon. Indonesia will soon return to food self-sufficiency to meet the needs of its 278 million residents,” Amran emphasized. (Uki Ruknuddin)
