JAKARTA, RAKYAT NEWS – A total of 93 Rohingya immigrants have been discovered on the shores of Meunasah Hasan village in Madat District, East Aceh. This significant event took place on October 31, 2024, when the group reportedly arrived at approximately 4:00 AM local time.

Syamsul Bahri, head of the Political and Security Affairs Division of the East Aceh Regional Development Agency, confirmed the arrival and stated that a team is currently on-site to document the details of the incident.

“We have preliminarily identified 93 Rohingya individuals on the beach,” he noted, emphasizing the urgency of the situation.

According to initial reports, the immigrants are believed to have disembarked from a vessel before swimming ashore to reach safety.

The local community has been alerted, and efforts are underway to ensure that the newcomers receive the necessary support.

While there are concerning reports regarding the potential deaths of some individuals in the group, Bahri indicated that no official confirmation of these claims has been received yet.

Authorities are still gathering information to clarify the situation and ensure that all survivors are accounted for.

Local authorities are actively coordinating with relevant agencies, including international organizations, to manage the situation effectively.

“Further handling of these immigrants will depend on discussions with the UNHCR, the international agency responsible for refugees,” Bahri added, highlighting the collaborative approach needed for this humanitarian issue.

The East Aceh government continues to monitor the situation closely, ensuring that the rights and welfare of the immigrants are prioritized. Emergency services and health professionals are on standby to provide any immediate assistance required by the group.
